4,000 affordable houses to come up in Nagpur Smart City Area
The Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited (NSSCDCL) — the special purpose vehicle to implement the smart city’s pilot project — has decided to construct 4,000 affordable houses, some of which will be available specially for project affected-persons (PAPs). Also, the SPV and police department will do prototype test of drone and mobile surveillance vehicle (MSV) on October 16.
The NSSCDCL, headed by additional chief secretary to CM Praveen Pardeshi, met on Friday with 13 proposals on the agenda.
Pardeshi told that the NSSCDCL approved its own resettlement and rehabilitation (R&R) policy for the project. “Around 700 families are likely to be affected during road expansion as well as construction projects. These families will be rehabilitated in the housing project,” he said.
NSSCDCL CEO Ramnath Sonawane said the R&R policy will be incorporated in the development control regulation to be prepared for the project. “The survey of 1,730 acres in Smart City area based development (ABD) area — Pardi, Punapur, Bharatwada and Bhandewadi has been completed. Suggestions and objections will be invited after November 15. The draft of town planning scheme will be prepared by December and submitted with the state government for approval,” he said.
Pardeshi added that the Smart City project was leading in comparison with other cities. “Major works of Rs 520 crore Smart City Solutions Project has been completed. Directives have been given to L&T for finalizing analytical and interpretation system of CCTVs’ feed so that police and NMC can begin to utilize the feeding coming from all 3,841 CCTVs,” he said.
Sonawane said police will get 10 high quality drones and MSVs under Smart City Solutions Project. “L&T has arranged prototype test of drones and MSVs on October 16. The NMC town planning department has sanctioned building plan of Command and Control Centre (COC) to be developed in the premises of commissioner of police’s office. Police,” he said.
