About 10 lakh property documents registered in TN in five months
Five months after the Tamil Nadu government pushed property registrations to the cyberspace, 10 lakh documents have been registered.
In February, the upgraded portal of the registration department was launched with an information technology-enabled service, STAR 2.0 (Simplified and Transparent Administration of Registration), to facilitate speedy registrations.
It eliminates the mandatory requirement of physical presence of a buyer or a seller to present the draft document of the property that is proposed to be registered.
Inspector general of registration J Kumar agurubaran said the number of documents registered online between February 13 and July 11 reached 10 lakh.
The number of documents that were registered through the manual process during the corresponding period of last year was 8.17 lakh.
