Delhi’s Janpath Hotel to be converted to multipurpose complex
The tourism ministry is likely to hand over the iconic Janpath Hotel to housing urban affairs ministry on Friday, which will be converted into a multi-purpose complex. The four-acre land is likely to pave the way for building high rise offices, residential apartments, service apartments, shopping centres and conference halls. According to reports, the urban affairs ministry has asked National Buildings Construction Corporation to prepare the plan.
An official release of the Cabinet decision says, “The hotel building has to undergo major rehabilitation work since the structure has been found to be unserviceable, in distressed condition and deficit in the context of seismic requirements, according to the inspection report of IIT Roorkee.”
