Ms. Manju Yagnik, Vice Chairperson, Nahar Group

Please describe your journey over the past 5 years in the industry?

My journey over the past 5 years in the real Estate has been full of new experiences. This industry is fast changing over the period of time. With advance technology in place across the globe, world has become very small in terms of sharing new construction techniques and processes. New technology has come in to use in the field of construction and development which is world class and is adopted across the globe by the industry. These are environmental friendly and support green buildings. From the consumer’s point of view, in the last five years he/she is well aware of the international standards as they are well travelled and better exposed to higher education and world topics. Till some time back, buying a property was a family affair. This has now changes to a large extent to towards more practical decisions than emotional one. Nahar Group has come a long way since 1973. The group has grown many – fold in the last four decades. The Group has a national footprint spread across the prime cities in India, having built over 15 million square feet of posh residential, industrial and commercial properties. The growth continues for the group, constructing almost one million square feet of space annually. We at Nahar have always strived to execute our projects with utmost detailed planning and expertise based on the current trends and technology. Nahar’s Amrit Shakti at Chandivali is our flagship project of award winning integrated township which has achieved the unique feet of bringing the best of construction of international standards enveloped with unmatched greenery, enhancing the living experience of our residents there.

What is the USP of your projects?

Our flagship project Nahar’s Amrit Shakti has been conceptualised and executed by international space design stalwarts of the real estate industry. While renowned Architect Hafeez Contractor has planned and designed this esteemed township, the landscaping for Nahar’s Amrit Shakti township including podium garden has been conceptualised by Belt Collins, Asia Pacific’s first professional services firm to combine urban and land planning, civil engineering, landscape architecture and environment and taken forward by TLS Pvt. Ltd Singapore. Facilitated by people-oriented approach and driven by passion to deliver quality products and services to the customers, the Group now is looking at developing Nahar’s Amrit Shakti further.

Nahar’s Amrit Shakti is one of the most admired and coveted projects that include unique designs, lavish amenities and infrastructure, and all these ensured by a team of Nahar Group’s specialised dedicated team of reputed architects, landscape specialists, structural engineers and other experts who work tirelessly to create the best structures in terms of quality and class.

The club house at Nahar Amrit Shakti’s too deserves a special mention. The upcoming 50,000 sq ft club house, one of the largest facilities in Mumbai, is equipped with a gym, yoga and meditation centre, spa, indoor games area, multi-cuisine restaurant, banquet hall, and many other facilities.

A supermarket, medical centre, business centre and World Class Nahar International School and a temple have made the township a unique residential place with perfect combination of social infrastructure and convenience.

What is your biggest strength as an industry leader?

Real Estate Business is a complex business. The biggest strength of an industry leader is that he/she should be multi-faceted. A leader in this industry should be innovative, be able to offer timely delivery, manage cost, a driving force to sales and marketing team. Today there are several developers engaged in bringing innovative project offerings to home buyers. The Nahar Group’s farsighted vision and ability, understood the demand of a new age buyer and therefore created Nahar’s Amrit Shakti as one of a kind living experience for its customers. This project combines latest technology set amongst the natural habitat that results in offering unparalleled experience to home buyers. Working along with nature in providing comfort and luxury is the key to making this project different from the others. The group so far has developed over 15 million sq. ft. of prime space across different parts of the country and aims at developing one million sq. ft. annually.

The industry has seen many ups and downs over the years. You and your organisation have managed to retain its position irrespective of the trends in the market. What is your strategy to ensure that you stay on top?

Being innovative and following a farsighted strategy is the key to sustaining oneself in this highly competitive industry. We believe in enhancing our satisfied customer base as they are our brand ambassadors who can evangelise about our projects. Therefore we have always focused on customer’s satisfaction. Brands are built over a period of time and it takes continuous nurturing to maintain brand position. We have made sure through our strategies that the position is strengthened.

One of our recent brand campaigns was also based on the theme of ‘LSF – Life Style Factor, which emerged as one of the most innovative campaign done by any real estate company to enhance brand recall that talks about the lifestyle a child seeks from parents in a crowded city.

Quality followed by trust always remains at the top when it comes to any of our offerings, as buying a home is once in a life time investment for most home buyers.

Did you face any hurdles and overcame the same to ensure your reputation as a leader remained intact?

At Nahar’s Amrit Shakti, one of the earliest challenges was what to create first – residential building or infrastructure. We took a tough decision to create basic infrastructure like roads, necessity-shops, banking facilities, clinics and club house, medical centre first. The initial investment was large but it generated a huge credit balance in terms of trust and credibility.

Chandivali that was naturally blessed. Nahar’s Amrit Shakti, was endowed with the luxury of nature in abundance and to capitalize on this nature’s gift, we had to simply retain it. Well it wasn’t as simple as it sounds given that the topography was over three different ground levels. We sourced international consultants including firms that specialized in traffic movements. Our dream was to create a sector with 22 buildings on a 9 lakh sq ft. green-vehicle-free podium with a 5 lac sq.ft garden and housing 3000 car parks. Today, the sector has its uniqueness of being one of the largest podiums ever conceived and executed in the country.
