Around 40-50 homebuyers who had invested in Canary Greens project, Sector 73, protested against delay in delivery of their flats in front of the Mini Secretariat on Monday. The project was launched by developer Today Homes in 2010, and possession was slated for 2014. However, the project is not yet complete. The protesters raised slogans against Gulshan Gambhir, the owner of Today Homes, for not finishing the project. They met deputy commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh later in the day.

According to buyers, work on the project stopped in 2013. After some protests, it was restarted in 2016, but again stopped two months later. Almost 90% of the work is complete in four out of eight towers, but work came to a halt stalled at the final stage. In the other four, only a third of the work has been done, while more than 50% of the payment has been taken. Buyers said they have lost faith in the whole system and will now file a police complaint

Meanwhile, the builder said they’re trying to speed up work. “The work is going on, and we’re trying our best to speed it up. We’re confident to achieve successful possession with co-operation from our customers,” a Today Homes spokesperson said.
