Illegal land sale soars in Jewar airport’s vicinity
Flights taking off from the Jewar international airport may be years away, but land mafia in nearby villages are flying high already.
A section of villagers has started reaping benefits of the prestigious project and is selling notified land to gullible buyers in the vicinity of the airport site without taking permission from the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).
The district administration said it had recently come to know about the racket and has asked officials to carry out an inspection soon. Officials — wary of an illegal colony coming up right under the nose of authorities in Shahberi — have suggested that those found selling land illegally in Jewar could be booked under the Gangster Act.
