Italy’s Real Estate Resurgence
Italy is becoming a smart place to place property investments again. The trend is broader than any one region or type of market.
Italy was slow to feel the effects of the housing crisis that swept southern Europe in 2008. It has also been slower to recover.
The market hit its lowest point in 2016-17, according to Ms. Bruce, with prices starting to climb again in the last 12 months.
Most luxury homebuyers still tend to be northern European, especially from Germany, the U.K., France, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland and Scandinavia.
North Americans have long had a presence as well. But more recently, buyers from Eastern Europe and Asia have started to come in, as well as people based in the Middle East and South America. Several agents cited increased interest from Brazil and Argentina.
