Ludhiana civic body recommends FIR against builders
The civic officials have recommended FIR against private developers who were constructing the flats without any structural safety certificate and no objection certificate from fire department. The flats were being constructed near Gill Garden Palace on Sua Road and city based RTI activist Kuldeep Khaira had also raised this matter through his complaint.
The civic officials claimed that they tried stopping the developers to construct the flats earlier also but now when they are not mending their ways they have recommended the FIR against them. The assistant town planner of zone C Kuljit Mangat has recommended the FIR against three developers. In the letter written to the police Mangat has mentioned that since there is no certificate of structural safety as well as the fire safety certificate with these developers another incident of building collapse can be repeated.
The flats are being constructed in over 2 acres of land and the construction work does not fulfill the building bylaws requirements.
The RTI activist Khaira however said that developers were damaging the exchequer of various government departments like MC, fire department and Powercom as construction was going on without taking permission from the concerned departments.
He said that recently a building had collapsed in Suffian Chowk on November 20 2017 and even in that building the basic parameters were ignored. He said that civic officials should take some concrete steps against such violators so that people should abide by the norms instead of flouting the rules.
