Nagpur Improvement Trust asks SIT to act against Scientific housing society
The Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) has lodged a complaint with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the police department to conduct an inquiry and take action against Laxmi Nagar-based Scientific Cooperative Housing Society. The society allegedly sold two plots owned by the civic agency to two builders 21 years ago.
NIT swung into action only after regular complaints by Naidu. NIT’s complaint with SIT was also lodged only after an order by the state information commission (SIC), which was a result of Naidu’s appeal.
NIT divisional officer (west) Pankaj Ambhorkar, in the complaint dated October 17, informed the SIT about the SIC order to the civic agency to ensure registration of an offence against Scientific Society. “We have also attached a letter of Scientific Society on which names of the office bearers are mentioned. Also, map of layout in which P-3 and P-4 are situated is also attached,” the complaint says.
Ambhorkar said Naidu is regularly pursuing the case. “Scientific Society, in nexus with builders, had taken undue advantage of the lack of sale deeds with NIT, and also its failure to register its name in city survey records. Therefore, action should be taken against all after an inquiry,” he said.
On March 20, NIT had lodged a complaint with Dhantoli police station demanding action against the society and builders. The complaint was lodged with Dhantoli police station even though Laxmi Nagar comes under the jurisdiction of Bajaj Nagar police station.
The police did nothing in the case. Also, NIT did not take any follow up with the police department in these seven months.
