New solar project Bibi
The ‘Solar Bibi Project’ has been launched to provide solar solutions to women entrepreneurs in rural areas of the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The project aims at improving businesses of women entrepreneurs by providing them uninterrupted power supply through solar energy.
The project is a joint venture of the Pakistan Council of Renewable Energy Technologies (PCRET) and Ministry of Science & Technology. Fatima Aneela, head of the E-Solar project, said the reason for the unique name is that it targets women of remote areas.
These Solar Bibis after getting necessary training will teach using solar energy run equipment in their respective communities. Fatima Aneela added that in coordination with PCRET the ministry aims to train 1,000 Women as Solar Bibis.
