Old government quarters in TN to be rebuilt
The state government will demolish the crumbling government employees’ rental quarters in 17 locations in the state to take up reconstruction work, deputy chief minister O Panneer selvam announced in the assembly.
The government had issued notices to the occupants of the quarters, which were identified for reconstruction, in 2014. However, several of the occupants did not vacate the portion till now. Hence, the government would take measures to vacate them as it was not safe.
The government has already started reconstruction in four of the sites after bringing down the ruined buildings. The remaining would also be reconstructed.
