“Our villages will change, our cities will grow..”
Jaxay Shah, President (Elect) CREDAI
Please describe your journey over the past 5 years in the industry?
It has been a positive growth and learning curve than what existed before 2010, on a personal front I have been fortunate to work with the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) that brings together more than 11500 Real Estate Developers from 154 city chapters across 23 states of India, which is the apex body for private sector developers. I am also honoured for being nominated as the youngest President Elect for CREDAI. On the business front the dynamics of the business have changed enormously, the needs of customers have changed, the regulatory frame work has seen a shift, and Gujarat is now on the national map more prominently than before. We are now thinking and practicing “Global”. Ofcourse risks and challenges have been there, which I think is a part of any business; and as always this has redefined the way we do business. Real Estate is best placed today and for the next 15 – 20 years we will see we will witness an enormous growth. Our villages will change, our cities will grow, and India will be one of the power magnets of the world.
What is the USP of your projects?
Across the various real estate segments where we have presence, we make an effort to deliver an “Unparalleled Living experience “and “The Best Maintenance”. Apart from offering the best, we also aim at offering the best in terms of maintenance, Maintenance is central and we have a strong in house team and project specific that looks after different projects. Several of our projects have consistently won national and international awards for delivering and maintaining excellence. For example apartments at Savvy Swaraaj – Sports Living, offers more than just a Club in a common area and provide access to more such as a one of India’s best sports academy. We are already providing coaching facility on our state of the art football pitch, and night cricket facility has been set up.
Kensville Golf – Golf Living, offers one of India’s best 18 Hole Jeev Milkha Singh Signature Golf Course and Golf Resort with 55 Luxury Rooms, one of the finest dining options and ayurveda Spa.
Shapath V – one of the tallest business hubs of Gujarat is today home to major corporates of India and is one of the best maintained buildings joining the league of several other projects where we have our in house maintenance.
What is your biggest strength as an industry leader?
I would like to take this more broadly in terms of our company Savvy Group, where our people, viz our employees, vendors, brokers, various other associates and our customers are our biggest strengths. We have to take both very seriously and focus on improving levels of satisfaction and collaboration. We try to enhance a strong value system with a high level of social consciousness, ethics and integrity.
The industry has seen many ups and downs over the years. You and your organisation have managed to retain its position irrespective of the trends in the market. What is your strategy to ensure that you stay on top?
Ups and downs will always remain in an open competitive atmosphere. So we focus of working with it. Innovation will be a major driver going forward, for example: we incorporated green development at a time in Gujarat when such a concept was non-existent even if it meant spending more. So the question remains are we really globally competent? We are getting there but there is a long road ahead of us. Hence it is essential to remain focused on achieving that excellence.
Did you face any hurdles and overcame the same to ensure your reputation as a leader remained intact?
They remain a part of our industry. Our regulatory framework is going through constant changes; and from a developer’s view point not one of the best. For example: The turnaround time to get a project approved is still long. So as I mentioned previously, we have to work with it and develop an ecosystem that constantly adjusts itself and keeps pace with the changes from time to time.
