The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will spend Rs 377 crore to build 3,664 affordable houses at Charholi, Ravet and Moshi under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

The Union government’s central sanctioning and monitoring committee has approved the detailed project report for the scheme, Rajan Patil, joint city engineer, PCMC, said adding that bids will be invited in December and the actual construction work is expected to start in February 2018.

The civic body had earlier invited applications for the projects to be implemented under PMAY to gauge the demand for affordable houses. It will conduct a separate survey of the slums to find out the number of people in need of such housing units.
