Pune: PCMC to table smart city plan on August 20
Under this project, the Pimpri Chinchwad Smart City Limited will lay a 750km optical fibre network, install CCTV cameras at various traffic junctions, 270 Wi-Fi hotspots, 60 smart city kiosks, and 150 variable message displays.
The displays will broadcast real-time information on traffic status, other city-centric issues and emergency related services. The entire project will be executed under the public private partnership (PPP) model.
Municipal commissioner Shravan Hardikar said they will receive Rs 593.67 crore for area-based development — which covers Pimple Saudagar and Wakad — and Rs 555.53 crore for pan-city solutions.
