Residents from various colonies in Telangna cry foul over blanket ban on property registration
Residents of several colonies are crying foul over the blanket ban imposed by the Telangana government on registration of properties across the state. The ban is a fallout of the Miyapur land scam. The residents of these colonies contend that their properties do not fall in the scam-tainted region, but because of the ban, they are unable to carry out registrations despite having paid fees under the Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) and Urban Land Ceiling (ULC) and secured clearances from various courts as well as building permissions from the civic body.
After the Miyapur scam surfaced in May, the state government through district collectors of the respective districts banned registration of land where the government has interest on land parcels and claiming ownership (including CS 14 of 1958 cases) over them.
Property owners in areas such as Vasanth Nagar colony, CBCID colony, NRSA Colony, Sardar Patel Nagar colony, Bhagatsingh Nagar Phase II in Hydernagar and others say they have nothing do with the Miyapur case and have taken permissions from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and erstwhile Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (Huda).
