Residents of Supertech Estate protest against hike in maintenance charges
Over 150 residents of Supertech Livingston in Crossings Republik township in Ghaziabad held silent protest on Sunday against the builder’s sister company Supertech Estate for increasing the maintenance charge of the society without residents’ consent. Supertech Estate provides maintenance services in the society.
The residents also expressed resentment over the inclusion of maintenance charge into the pre-paid electricity meters that automatically deducts expenses on a monthly basis at a fixed date.
According to residents, the builder has increased the maintenance expenses from Rs 1.20 of society maintenance charge and 0.30 paise of township maintenance charge (1.20+ 0.30) per sqft along with GST to Rs 2. The expenses will now amount to Rs 3,200 from 2,200.
However, according to the builder, the society residents were paying the static amount of Rs 1.50/sq ft from January 1, 2015 till July 1, 2017 and did not allow them to increase the expenses, thus running the maintenance of the society into losses.
