Star Cement, is a small 4-million tonne cement–maker based out of Guwahati (Assam) that sells 55 per cent of its produce in the North-East and the rest in the eastern region.

The so-called campaign was first rolled out in 2015, when Star Cement sponsored the prominent Deshapriya Park Puja, in Kolkata. The Puja promised to showcase the “world’s tallest Durga”

The first teaser came in July 2015. Sooner or later, the entire region was engulfed by a wave of advertisements and media reports across all medium.

In 2016, Star Cement didn’t sponsor any Puja. On September 13, it rolled out an award campaign for Puja organisers. It was named “Star Cement Eto Boro Satti Sharod Samman 2016”. The aim was to award best Pujas in South Bengal, North Bengal and Kolkata.

“With regret, we wish to inform you that we are withdrawing ‘Eto Boro Sotti Sharod Samman 2016’ as advised by the authorities due to safety concerns,” Star Cement said
