Warehousing, gaining prominence across Indian Realty Sector
Warehousing is now rapidly gaining prominence across the Indian Realty Sector, which was once side-lined in the larger scheme of things. It consists many factors at the microeconomic and macroeconomic level which is making warehousing an attractive opportunity for investors looking for investing their lands. The growth rates are favourable for warehousing as significant investments are being made in the tune of $8-9 billion, for creation of warehousing facilities across the country over 2 years span. This would result in creation of more than 20,000 jobs at different levels.
Basically, warehouses are intermediate storage points where items like raw materials, work in process and finished goods are held for a duration of time for variety of purposes. From the developer’s point of view, the sector seems very promising. And that’s why we are noticing the growing sector of ware housing near residential, hotel, exhibition centre, etc. so that goods can also be displayed easily to the public.
NCR region and Mumbai have many warehouses. Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad have understood the opportunity and are concentrating construction on warehouses. Ecommerce, electronics and white goods are using the warehouses the most and also for a longer period of time as compared to non-durable goods like vegetables, fruits and flesh.
