Aluminium sector to get relief from the stressed state
Odisha, a major producer of aluminium and alumina, has major stakes on various issues concerning the aluminium sector. To resolve this, the State Government has decided to present its demands at the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) forum.
In order to facilitate a holistic decision, the MoCI asked Union Secretary, DIPP, to take appropriate decisions by accommodating the concerns of all stakeholders in this regard to provide the sector the much needed relief. Several issues have been raised by Aluminium Association of India (AAI) on various challenges that aluminium industries are facing problems like cheaper imports from China, increasing cost of production, limited availability of Calcinated Pet Coke (CPC) with lower sulphur content and many more.
The All India Transformers Manufactures Association (AITMA) also sought price control mechanism of electrical grade aluminium, alleging that domestic aluminium manufacturers have made a cartel and are also arbitrarily raising prices and creating scarcity.
By looking closely at the concerns raised by the AAI and other industry associations, the DIPP will have detailed deliberations to reach a holistic decision for the aluminium sector, reported an official.
