BMC to raze rest of collapsed Dongri building

The BMC is expected to start demolishing the remaining portion of Dongri’s Kesarbai building, that crashed on July 16, next week.

A civic official said a contractor will be appointed for the demolition. “A portion of the building still stands, but we were waiting for the debris of the crash to be removed before starting demolition,” the official added.

On July 16, the residential building collapsed around noon, killing 13 people and injuring more than 10. Rescue operations at the site went on till the next day. On July 18, assistant municipal commissioner of the B ward, Vivek Rahi, was suspended for the lack of control over illegal constructions in the area.
