Entrepreneurs and industrial units can now hope for better days as the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) is undertaking reforms to expedite the approval process.

GIDC has stipulated that construction permits and building plans must be approved within 45 days and 30 days, respectively.

It has fixed a time-line for inspections to be carried out by its officers and stated that all inspection reports, occupancy certificates and construction permits must be uploaded on the GIDC website within two days.

Sources said the reforms are part of the recommendations proposed by the department of industrial policy and promotion as part of the Business Reform Action Plan for 2017, a set of reforms to help improve India’s ease of doing business ranking.

According to GIDC’s reforms, the field or area manager of an industrial estate must conclude plinth inspection and approve the building plan within seven days of the application being made. The regional manager and general manager would then have to approve the plans within the next seven and 16 days. “The process must be completed within 30 days from submission of documents and payment of fees,” a GIDC official.
