Haryana RERA body won’t be ready before November-end
The deadline for setting up of the state Rera has been pushed back by another month. The authority is now expected to go live only by November-end, contrary to the chief minister’s recent announcement that it would be set up by October-end.
According to senior government officials involved in the proceedings, the process of appointing officials is under way and interviews are slated for the first week of November. “The interview for the post of chairman of H-Rera is scheduled for November 4. Interviews for other posts will follow. We’re expecting the authority to become functional by November-end,” said a senior state government official, requesting anonymity.
Officials further said till now the state has received 596 applications for registration under H-Rera, of which 338 have been registered. “A further 571 applications have been submitted by agents, of which 540 agents have been registered under H-Rera so far,” said the official.
The state government has been facing flak from homebuyers for delays in setting up the Rera authority. Even though Haryana notified its Rera rules in July, homebuyers are still clueless about whom to approach with complaints related to their projects.
The chief minister, during his recent Gurgaon visit, had promised the state Rera panel will be functional by month-end, after a group of buyers protested at a public meeting he had held. Khattar had further assured that buyers can approach the panel with their complaints, even if their project is not registered under HRera. As per a notification on the Rera website, government officials have said the website will become functional only after the Rera authority is finalised.
The chief minister’s announcement had attracted reactions from developers as well, who had said if the government wants Rera rules to cover all projects, it has to do so vide a notification under Section 3 of the central Act. In the last three months, the state Rera has not managed to process more than 10% of the total number of complaints filed with it.
