Property tax dues not paid, Gurugram civic body seals nine buildings
As the third quarter of the financial year is coming to an end, MCG has upped its efforts for the collection of property tax dues.
After announcing a 30% rebate on the interest amount for those paying their dues before December 30, it has now started sealing drives against the property tax defaulters.
On Sunday, nine commercial properties were sealed in zone-1 which primarily consists of the old Gurgaon area. The total property tax dues on these nine properties was around Rs 1.9 crore. “We had issued notices to the nine property owners, demanding payment of the property tax dues. However, after they failed to comply with the notices, we had to seal these buildings,” said a senior MCG official. He also said if the property owners failed to clear the dues even now, these properties would be put up for auction.
The properties that were sealed included Reliance building in Sector 88 with Rs 40.55 lakh pending as dues, Indian Development Design Engineering Consultant Property in Harsaru SEZ with Rs 37.69 lakh dues, property owned by Rajesh Sehal with Rs. 24.76 lakh dues, a property owned by Bestech with Rs 21.01 lakh dues and Amir Pure Foods with Rs 23.88 lakh dues. SCO number 35 in Sector 4 has to pay Rs 12.11 lakh as property tax and Tree Apartments in Rajendra park has to pay Rs 8.9 lakh.
The list is also inclusive of Asian Company located in Sihi village with property tax dues worth Rs 21.4 lakh and the property owned by Harindra Katyal in Harsaru SEZ has dues of Rs 42.7 lakh.
