Rashtrapati Bhavan to turn ‘smart’ with IBM solution
Rashtrapati has partnered with IBM to change the Presidential Estate into a smart township. IBM has set up an Intelligent Operations Center to monitor and enhance of critical infrastructure and utilities at Presidential Estate spread across 330 acres of land.
“The smart presidential estate is a replicable model, which can be replicated in other parts of the country through citizen’s engagement, public and private sector engagement, public and private sector participation and deployment of intensive technologies. We are in the process of replicating our Rashtrapati Bhavan experience of Smart Township by applying and transferring our knowledge and expertise to five villages in an adjoining state,” said President Pranab Mukherjee.
The Intelligence Operations Center addresses challenges like water supply, security, electrical infrastructure and solid waste management. IBM IOC also delivered a mobile app to enable residents to report issues using the web and data.
As part of the strategic engagement, IBM developed a detailed roadmap for the transformation of President’s estate into a smart township.
IBM has mapped all water domain assets such as water reservoirs, pump locations and tube well assets. The entire water distribution pipeline was mapped on a Geographical Information System layer (GIS).Through IBM IOC system, the company aims to provide accurate information about the distribution network.
On the security front, the IOC system comes with e-visitor technology to facilitate analyses of all the visitors and keep statistics.
