Real estate group partners with Cricket Australia
The cheating scandal that rocked Australian cricket last summer has not stopped the sport from striking a new sponsorship deal with Domain that will give the property website naming rights for domestic test series over the next four years.
Domain and Cricket Australia will announce the partnership, which will include shared advertising content across Domain and cricket.com.au and also see the property listings website named the official Real Estate Partner of the sporting code.
Domain will replace Magellan Financial Group which in March terminated its naming rights sponsorship of domestic Test matches involving the Australian men’s cricket team just one summer into the three-year deal.
Magellan chief executive and co-founder Hamish Douglass said the ball tampering scandal involving test captain Steven Smith, vice-captain David Warner and junior player and Cameron Bancroft was “so inconsistent with our values” that he not choice but to walk away from the sponsorship.
Companies such as health food company Sanitarium, Commonwealth Bank and sporting goods manufacturer ASICS ended their relationships with the players at the time.
