Verandas in Jaipur to be renovated under smart city mission

The Jaipur Smart City Mission Limited (JSML) has decided to take up the renovation work of heritage verandas in the Walled City area which are in dilapidated condition since long. The approval was given in the Jaipur Smart City Advisory Forum chaired by MP Ram Charan Bohra. BJP MLA from Kishanpole constituency Mohan Lal Gupta and deputy mayor Manoj Bhardawaj in previous meetings had proposed to take up renovation work of verandas, along with the façade renovation.

The JSML is targeting to complete more projects under the mission by the end of 2017. These include projects like developing 15 smart-classrooms in government schools, installing 50 smart toilets and installing phase-II of rooftop solar plant at the Rajasthan University.

In the meeting, it was discussed that mission has nearly completed phase-I of renovation of Rajasthan School of Art project in Kishanpole after spending Rs 90 crore. It has also initiated facade improvement of nine bazaars with a proposed budget of Rs 14.6 crore. Many important projects, such as redevelopment, restoring and cleaning of Talkatora Lake, smart meters for water connections, waste to energy, Brahmpuri STP capacity enhancement, etc., are still on the back burner.
